President Brad Bruns called the meeting
to order at 6:46pm by reciting the
Pledge of Allegiance with 10 members
Treasurer Bill Poppenga gave the
Treasurer's Report which included
account balances and a detailed list of
money taken in vs. money spent. Report
Secretary Marcia Kaup asked if any
changes were noted regarding the
December minutes since there was no
official January meeting. . No changes
were brought forth. Minutes accepted as
Representative Lori Butler reported that
Legislative Days was well attended.
Congratulations to Brad Bruns for being
selected as our Member of the Year for
2017 and Bill Poppenga was presented a 1
year membership for having Oahe ABATE
chapter meetings in his garage.
Dianna gave updates on current
legislation and continues to update the
state website with bills of
interest. HB1117 for historical plates
on bikes has passed both the Senate and
House. HB1111 regarding definition of
street gangs has been amended and
scheduled to be heard again in House
Judiciary on Feb. 12th. Jiggs has asked
IMPAC to review and update our
legislative position statement. Carl
will be doing another pre-order of 40th
anniversary shirts, due by 3/18.
The 40th state celebration will be held
at Lilly Park the third Saturday in May.
Heartland STEAM is March 23-25
Albert Lea, MN. Elections are coming up
for two state officers, Jan was
nominated and accepted for Treasurer,
Aaron was nominated but not yet accepted
for Vice Coordinator.
Secretary Bonnie London said membership
is the same as December but she has a
quite a few that will be sent in to the

March meeting. Onslaught has been hired
for the Band. There will be an officer
meeting at Jeff & Bonnie's on Friday,
February 16 at 7pm to discuss the raffle
and get ticket information collected.

meeting. The Fun Run committee will be
comprised of Brandon (Chair) Brad, Bill,
Marcia, Bonnie, Joe and Jamie.
Heartland STEAM (Seminar To Educate And
Motivate) will be held March 23-24 at
the Heritage Hotel (Ramada Inn) 2301
East Main St; Albert Lea MN. Dennis made
a motion to pay Early Bird Registration
of $50 and 2 rooms for 2 nights for 4
people to attend. Lori seconded. Motion
carried. Bring your registration and
hotel receipts to the April meeting to
be reimbursed. Get your STEAM
registration in before February 24 to
qualify for the $10 Early Bird discount.
Awareness Run will be held on May 19.
Meet at the Capitol at noon, a dice run
will be held for those who do not want
to attend the state BOD meeting. Oahe
Chapter will provide food and beverages
after the BOD meeting and dice run at
the picnic shelter at Lilly Park in Ft.
Pierre. Marcia (Chair), Kip, Tina and
Jamie are in charge of details.
Discussion was held on bringing back the
Most Mileage contest. The contest will
run from the time of meeting at the
Capitol on the day of the Awareness Run
2018 to the same in 2019. This is for
members of Oahe Chapter. Dennis Bruce
will be in charge of the signup and
logging beginning mileage. More details
will be available at the March meeting.
The March meeting be held Saturday,
March 10 at 6:30pm at Bill's Garage.
Drawings for 50/50 and SOL will be held.
Pot luck will follow the meeting. Bring
a dish to pass if you wish.
Marcia made a motion to adjourn. Jamie
seconded. Motion carried and the meeting
adjourned at 8:25.
